SPRING 2021 AUDITIONS

LAPC Theatre

AUDITIONS ANNOUNCED FOR SPRING, 2021 LAPC THEATRE VIRTUAL PRODUCTIONS!

LAPC Theatre directors Shaheen Vaaz and Esdras Toussaint have announced they will hold auditions for the two plays in our Spring, 2021 Season on Friday, Dec. 18 from 1-3pm. All auditions will be done in a zoom session led by professors Vaaz and Toussaint.

The two plays, which will both be presented virtual through live zoom streaming, will be a family-friendly version of William Shakespeare’s classic comedy “A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM” (which is being directed by Esdras Toussaint and will run via live stream March 26, 27 and 28), and “THE BOMB-ITTY OF ERRORS,” a fast-paced, energetic, musical “ad-rap-tation” of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. The show is being directed by Shaheen Vaaz and will run via live stream on May 21, 22 and 23.

Those interested in auditioning must attend the zoom audition meeting (link: https://laccd.zoom.us/j/96333747633) and prepare a monologue of your choice from either or both plays.

Copies of the monologues for each show may be viewed on the following links:

To attend the open call auditions (anyone interested is encouraged to present their chosen monologue) please follow this link on Friday, Dec. 18 beginning at 1pm:

In “A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM,” fairies mix with outrageous comedy for a “Dream” come true! In the forest, misguided passions mix with magic spells as four young lovers and an unsuspecting troupe of aspirational players cross paths with the fairy king and queen, engaged in a war of wills.

“THE BOMB-ITTY OF ERRORS,” created by Jordan Allen-Dutton, Jason Catalano, Gregory J. Qaiyum, Jeffrey Qaiyum and Erik Weiner, is an award-winning Ad-Rap-Tation, hip-hop theatre retelling of Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. The 90-minute comedy and is part play and part rap concert. Refreshingly current but retaining the integrity of the original. "Nothing short of brilliant. Clever writing, rhythmic flow, witty musical allusions and intelligent humor... the show is thoroughly entertaining." -- MTV
